| Great local State Park

By user-5883239... on 2017-10-23.

Heavily wooded/ secluded Park. Whole Park is almost under a canopy of deciduous trees. (Absolutely our favorite place to visit in Fall.) Good natural cover between sites. Very quiet! Most sites very level, but some leveling may be needed on some sites. Great very clean bathhouses. Nice trails. Lake & big playground area. Tough to get satellite reception with all the trees. But 30+ tv options over air. Friendly Park Rangers and see them drive by often, so good oversight. Like most State Parks, no cable or sewer hookups, but 24/7 dumpout on way in/ out. Small store in season for basic basics (including ice cream!) and firewood. Added benefit is that it's adjacent to Atkins Arboretum which has many programs/ trails.

| Nice

Nice campground. Good electric hookup. No water or sewer hookup but fill/dump station very close by. Campsite was tough to back my 30' TT into but it worked out.

| Off the Grid!

By user-6240534... on 2018-07-06.

Quaint, off the grid state park. Self check in. Very quiet despite being fully booked for the holiday weekend. Electric and non-electric loops. Portable water stations in loop and dumpsters. Most sites are long enough to big rigs BUT there are 2 trees close together that make the sites different to back into. All back in sites. We stayed in site 31 and there is a little creek that runs behind it, about 100 ft back. Heavily wooden, plenty of shade, plenty of trees to put up a hammock or other hanging chairs (huggle pod etc). Bath house is large with 2 showers, 3 toilets and a make up area. Also a dishwashing station at the bathhouse (next to men’s bathroom). There’s a playground in the camping loop and there’s a lake trail from there to the lake/playground/boat rental area. (About a mile total hike from campground to lake or a 5 min Drive) At the park office, there is a Scales and Tales Aviary, past Atkins Arboretum. Look up the hours for the arboretum before going (hours are like 11-4). 20 min drive to Denton where there’s a Walmart and restaurants. Ridgely is about 10 mins away. There’s a diner and Vanderwald ice cream sold at the Ridgely Pharmacy. Spotty WiFi so Tuckahoe is really off the grid. Great getaway if you just want to relax and be with nature.
