Stayed there in late May.... absolutely beautiful place...great staff .... Nice store ...all very clean and we'll maintained....camp site right along the water ....free fishing ...boat rentals and reasonable rates ...well decided water trails for easy or advanced paddlers .... And!!!! No Bugs !

Janes Island has been a great place to camp. This is my third year, and it only has gotten better. The sunsets are the most beautiful I've seen on the eastern shore; the other night the stars were so abundant and bright I could hardly keep from dancing; kayaking is wonderful; the facilities are great; the staff is friendly. Can't ask for more. You can rent kayaks, fish and crab from the shoreline or go toward the Oceanside and fish from your boat.

We loved staying here for New Years Eve! Beautiful views and the staff couldn't be more helpful! Will definately return!

Great park quite at night, friendly staff has eletric but bath houses closed for winter.Would stay here again

| Beautiful waterfront rustic camping

Spacious shaded wooded sites located on the channel that divides the mainland from the island. Our site directly faced the salt marsh and fishing bulkhead across the lightly trafficked campground road. We stayed in the Loop C dry camping loop where several water spigots were available in the center of the loop. Water fill was available at the entrance near the dump station. I believe in Loop B most sites have 30A but no water hookups, and it was mostly booked, even in mid-Sep. A handful of sites on the outside of Loop C had electric, but ours had no services so we just used our portable solar panels, which received good sun at the west side of the site in the afternoon. Sites have very large wooden table, fire ring and metal pole with hook. Bath house in our section was older but clean with plenty of hot water for the showers. Bath house near Loop A/camp store was newly remodeled and very upscale. Most sites in Loop C were open when we stayed mid Sep. Sites in this loop are large, but most are very open to other sites since there are just the large loblolly pines without many bushes. Easy level 2 mile bike trip into Cristfield for groceries and sightseeing cruises. Free fishing off town dock in Cristfield and off the 1500+ foot bulkhead at the campground (free online registration). We caught loads of blue crab using hand lines from the bulkhead and in the salt marsh while kayaking. There are about 30 miles of marked water trails through the marshes of the island. Mid-Sep we had the marsh mostly to ourselves with even completely isolated sand beaches on the bay, only accessible by boat. The biting flies came out in the morning and late afternoon/early evening, so bring bug spray. We never had any problem with bugs while kayaking in the marsh, probably due to the constant breeze. Camp store wood $5.25 for 7-8 sticks (Loblolly pine cones and dry needles carpeting the ground are great for fire starters). Camp store seemed well stocked, but we didn't check prices since we brought everything except wood. Free loaner fishing poles. Large community/conference room where I saw people on laptops, so probably had wifi. We had good Verizon service. No alcohol allowed. Non-electric sites $22. 30A sites $28 (non MD resident rate). Pets are allowed in Loop A and in Loop B. The sites seemed closer together in Loops A and B. There were many sites that would fit our 37' Class A and the roads are wide and paved. Level gravel pads. We stayed off-season and didn't note any camp activities, but I believe that there are planned activities for kids and families during high season. We loved this campground and plan to return.
