Best campground on the island.
By user-6268591... on 2017-10-23.
This campground is fantastic !!! Best place in Bar Harbor in my opinion. You just can't show up once, get a site you don't like and write a bad review. That's not right. Been camping there for 5 years. Sure we had the odd site we didn't like but looked around and picked a better one for the next time.

Campground with Heart

Signed up for a one week stay the last week of June. We were impressed at how well-staffed the facility was with friendly and competent staff. We were escorted to our site by a gent with a golf cart who helped us back in. We loved site B2- trees, long, level gravel area, fire ring and picnic table. The 30 amp and water worked well. Bathroom and showers were clean. Remember to bring two quarters for the shower. While we were enjoying our week in Acadia, my 81 year old father, who was camping in the site next to us fell ill and had to be hospitalized in Ellsworth. He was seriously ill and hospitalization lasted beyond the time we had reserved at Hadley point. I didn't know what we would do, since I knew the subsequent week was peak for this area and all sites were likely reserved and all hotels were booked. The people in the Hadley Point office were so kind and compassionate. They said not to worry, they would put us in a site that just had a cancellation. Their staff actually moved my fathers camper for us. When I went in to the office to thank them and pay for the extra night. The owner would not take my money. She said we'd been through enough already. I was so touched. It was a challenging week for our family but I will always remember the thoughtfulness of the kind staff and owners at Hadley Point as one of the highlights of our trip to Maine.

Say 'No' to site B-12
By user-6081272... on 2017-10-23.
its a terrible site because the electric and water hook-up are on the wrong side. We had to use two hoses to reach the water connection, and the electric only reached because we were able to back-up our trailer between the trees. There are two trees on the site that almost make it impossible to back-in. Even when we did, we were not able to open our awning because one of the trees wouldn't allow it. There were also lots of mosquitos. The 'honey wagon' service was good and reliable. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Our site was in an open field - not our favorite situation but we booked kind of late for peak season. Nice pool, good playgrounds, good electric and water. Shuttle stops right in the park to transport you to central location where you can get shuttles to Bar Harbor or through Acadia National Park so you avoid the hassle of traffic and parking. Great lobster shack right opposite park road.

We stayed here 3 days and it had some good things and some bad. This was an easy campground to get into if they put you in the field by the entrance. We were in number 9, which was a back in spot. We had plenty of room for the truck to be parked right next to us. We were parked on grass and that was fine with us. There is a shuttle bus that comes into the campground once an hour to pick up and drop people off to and from Bar Harbor until 8:30 at night. You are about 9 miles to Bar Harbor. This was wonderful since parking can get crazy in town. Very limited full hook-up sights. Laundry is $3.50 a load, the most I have ever paid. The showers cost you 50 cents for 7 minutes, which I had never seen before. Bathrooms and showers were clean. Say's internet but none at all. Satellite won't work cause you are surrounded by tree's and no cable either. Staff was friendly. Nice pool but nothing fancy for $50 a night. We realize we will pay more for campgrounds in the East.

No WIFI

They advertise WIFI, but it does not reach the entire campground. We did not have WIFI at our site.

Super friendly, Lots of shade close to Bar Harbor

Super friendly staff. Front desk ladies where so friendly and helpful. We stayed in section B for a week with no complaints. We didn't use any ammentities other than the pool which was pretty cold.
The campground is close if you want to drive into Acadia or Bar Harbor or the Island Explorer will pick you up and take you into vistor Center which you can then jump on another shuttle to different locations. This campground is family friendly and perfect for exploring the park or Bar Harbor.

Just ok

We booked months in advance, should have looked at at other campgrounds. The site was just okay, the grass was fairly long when we arrived. After the 2nd day we asked if they would cut it. We moved everything out of the way and they arrived promptly, they used a weed eater. The grass was wet and it was like glue. We had to rinse everything off. We had friends staying in a local hotel and they wanted to visit us and stay for dinner, about three hours. They did as directed and checked in at the office and were told they had to pay $16 for two people. Even if they wanted to visit for an hour each day it would be $16. Sorry, but that s ridiculous. We ve never camped where we could have visitors, so I don t know if that s the norm. Long story short, we would never stay at this campground again. They want you to pick up poop from your dog, but there aren t any places to put the bags, other than trying to find the dumpster.

A Tight Squeeze All Around

Mostly small back-in sites without sewer. A few full hookup sites but with only 30 amp. All 50 amp are small back-ins without sewer. There is a dump station but hard to get to. Actually, everything is hard to get to here since it is so squeezed in. Even the entry road is short and narrow. On top of that, a community bus pulls through about every ten minutes, so you cannot hitch or unhitch your toad in peace since there is nowhere to go. I'll try somewhere else next time.

Nice, but not our style

This place is a bit too resort-like for us as we prefer a more primitive and private experience. Still privacy between sites was decent. There is a pool and a playground. This is a great location for exploring Acadia.

Love Bar Harbor

The campground had it all (except sewer hookups). Laundry had 4 washers, 2 out of order. We didn't use it but the pool seemed nice. Good playground for kids. The shuttle into Bar Harbor was the best.
