The camping was nice and Mark the owner is just a hoot. Gave us some really good directions that were better than our GPS (he took us around some of the tougher hill area for big rigs) He keeps a nice, clean place. Our site was a pull through which was nice for our 5th wheel right near the river. All sites had full hookups except the tent sites. Camp ground was fairly quiet and if you have kids there was neat play area. It also wasn’t that far from The Green Bank telescope and the Cass Scenic Railroad.
Owners are very friendly, small town home like atmosphere.
I stayed here with a few members of my motorcycle riding club. We were going to do the Cass Railway on Saturday, and the Durbin railway on Sunday. This wonderful campground is right between the railroad tracks and the river. Because they have to keep the steam engine fired up all night, you can walk to the station and chat with the people who maintain the railroad. The camp host was very attentive, and even loaned me a 30-15 adapter so I could plug in my teardrop. The sites are level grass, and there is a horse corral at the end of the campground. This place was a major find, and a delight to stay at. Large sites, clean restrooms, power and fire rings...I will be back!
