| Trees & Bears & Space, "Oh My!"

By user-4652131... on 2017-10-23.

Best RV campground that we've found in Anchorage. Other options were very cramp, parking lot facilities. Centennial has large individual spaces that have a lot of room and trees between sites, and it is located in a forest area just east of Hwy 1. Proximity to Anchorage is convenient but you are not really "in town". It's on the northern edge of Anchorage. Yes, the main complaint of itinerant persons using the bathroom facilities is true, but it didn't seem nearly as problematic as some reviewers describe. We witnessed some of this activity but it seemed minimal to us. The staff is very helpful and friendly and shoos people out that don't belong there if they see them. If you need to be in or near Anchorage, I still consider this to be your best option. We have stayed there twice in our 36' 5th wheel. PS - it is likely that you will see black bears meandering through the park at some point during your stay. Park rangers shoo them out with whistles & shouting. (Actually, it was fun to watch.) I bought a whistle myself for dog walks. It worked - but that's another story.
