Sweet spot
By user-5876581... on 2017-10-23.
All the other reviews here are spot on. There couldn't have been more than 10 campers in the whole site and having restaurants like Prejeans with good cajun food and music nearby didn't hurt any either. The small but educational Nature Center was staffed with a knowledgeable ranger too. Don't expect amenities or cleanliness in the restrooms but the natural setting makes up for it.

Very poor cell service here
By user-5876581... on 2017-10-23.
I forgot to add to my last review that the cell service for t-mobile users is close to non-existent in this park. We would have stayed much longer but for this problem since we need to be able to get in touch with work while we travel.

Very nice!
By user-5814915... on 2017-10-23.
We just happened to this spot and loved it so much we spent 4 nights. It was lightly used, maybe 10 other RVs over the weekend and 4-5 the other nights but it's green and quiet, aside from Nature's cacophony! And it's $20 for full hook-up with free dump outside. I was told the toilets and showers were not very clean but I did not need them. There is a coded gate for security and the place is ideally located close to town and to many other attractions. Really a cool find.

Best $20 value we've come across in many states in our travels. Quiet, well shaded, coded security lock on gate. Attendant lives at entrance. Not big rig friendly and no pull thrus but no problems accessing in our 36' class A. Free dump station.

Wonderful place
By user-5807165... on 2017-10-23.
We had suburban engine trouble, needed a place and found this jewel. It's in the city, yet in the country. We loved staying here. $20.00 a night.

Hidden Gem
By user-5908924... on 2017-10-23.
This is so nice. Gorgeous setting right in the heart of a lovely residential area. Modest amenities but an incredible bargain for $20. There are 5 RVs here total and lots of room to spread out. All lots with trees. Very quiet.

Looks like you're heading into the state park at first, the sign for RV park was not very visible late in the evening. Pulled up to a gate and entered the code that was left on the voicemail recording when we phoned earlier and went in to find a spot. The pads were narrow in some spots but were paved and also were not pull thru. Not too many others there, I would say 10-12. But it was nice as it was very quiet and there was plenty of room between other RVs. The bathrooms on site were typical state park facilities, needing a thorough cleaning and upgrade. I didn't use the showers but both doors required the same code to get in as the gate code. We didn't stay long but would have loved to enjoy the walking trails if we were ever back in the area. Looked like a fun place to explore. $20 for the evening was a fair price.

City needs to improve
By user-5781569... on 2017-10-23.
Great location off 1-10, road in/out of cmpgrd desperately needs grading. Most campsites need repairing, they are broken/uneven. great nature trails, disc golf, & nature ctr. One bathhouse for cmpgrd. Park is empty most times. Was there early Dec. We were the only campers @ cmpgrd last two days of our stay

Although it's run by the city it has all the same facilities that a State Park would have and it is very quiet and very nice in my opinion I would recommend it

Not Again

Had a reservation and arrived to find no staff on site anywhere and no notes on the door. Our name was on a board but we did not have the code to get through the gate. Went to the gate to see if there was a note there with further instruction.... No. We headed in to find our site. The roads were one way but. That was not clearly marked so we headed in trying to find our site and could not even find it because the numbers were covered up by reserved signs. The roads are confusing and one way and there is no rhyme or reason for the numbering of the sites. We ended up going the wrong way on a one way street heading into a school bus who was not very patient with our confusion. We survived that incident and finally found our site to then find over grown landscaping, un-level sites and flash flood zone warning signs every where. I knew ra really bad storm was on its way so we got the heck out of there. Won’t be going back ever! Total waste of time!

Nice Place, Nature and Wood
By user-5951853... on 2018-05-17.
No Problem to get a Site without reservation. 25$, water/elektric and dumpstation at the entrance/exit. There is a wildlife researchstation with lots of information and exhibits of animals, also 2 living snakes. Awesome for kids. Some trails thru the wood. At night you can watch raccoons searching for food at the campground.

For small RV this place is great. Quiet, not far from 10, however.....if you arrive after 5, there is no one around. That means if you need the code to the bathroom/showers you re out of luck.
